Definition of restorative

adjective – having the ability to restore health, strength, or well-being.

noun – a thing that restores health, strength, or well-being, especially a medicine or drink.

Life is a degenerative condition, we wear out in body and mind and that’s just the way it is. In the Western world hips, knees, the back neck and shoulders seem to be the most common problems that aging bodies face. These problems don’t happen overnight, it’s an accumulation of bad posture and neglect and then one day some simple movement is the straw that breaks the camel’s back! Then once the damage is done we start on long, costly and usually boring road to reconstruction.

Yoga is informal mindfulness, paying attention, in the moment and without judgement, yoga is a very grounding and calming self-care activity in our busy lives.

Practicing yoga helps to precondition the body and the mind and has many benefits for aging bodies:

Meditation is exercising the mind muscle and the benefits of a meditation practice are well documented and can’t be ignored.

Yoga and meditation combined are a powerful holistic workout for body, brain and mind. Yoga poses can be adapted and modified for anybody and anybody can meditate. All that is required is intention and commitment.

Without a doubt being healthy and feeling healthy and strong makes us feel happier and a healthy body and mind recover faster from illness.
