Tell us a little bit about yourself. I am a Photographer, and while I enjoy many different areas of photography, my love is taking photo’s of Newborn Babies. There is something so very special about a new baby, so pure, so unique, so special. A new soul coming to life.
As well as being a newborn photographer, I am also a Reiki Master. My Reiki journey started about 18 months ago and has helped me navigate through a very difficult time in my life. Through daily self healing, mediation, journaling and daily self love I am now enjoying life with my gorgeous girls.
Do you have a formal meditation practice? While I don’t have a formal meditation practice, I mediate most days normally after getting the kids to school. My mediation choices differs each day depending on what I feel guided towards and changes from various guided meditations that I have on my phone or a stillness meditation. Recently I have started doing a mantra meditation focusing on “I am…” and allowing whatever answer to come.
What are the benefits? What do you struggle with? Meditation has helped me shift my life. Prior to starting my meditation and Reiki journey I was deeply depressed, I didn’t believe I was worthy of anything and definitely didn’t love myself nor my life. Through daily self Reiki healing, meditating and journaling, I now find myself in a wonderful place where I am really enjoying life.
Do you have an informal practice such as moving meditation (yoga, running) or a passion or an interest that requires your attention and takes you away from everything else? How does this benefit you? E.g photography, cooking, sewing, gardening. As well as Meditation and Reiki, I love to move my body every day. Most days this includes an early morning cross-fit session. As well as this at times I will do a walking/running mantra based meditation or yoga. Recently I have also started learning Latin dancing.
What’s your constant challenge in everyday life? Working for myself has provided lots of challenges. Prior to starting my photography business, I was working in an office with a great team and I miss having people around to talk to and bounce ideas off.
What’s your go to self-care practice? Reiki is definitely my go to self-care practice. One of my daily rituals is my daily self healing that I will do each day upon waking before my day begins. I also have a wonderful healer that I will see if I find there are some blocks that I need extra help breaking through.
What’s your guilty pleasure? Taking the time out to go and just sit in nature by myself. It is amazing how even just 10 minutes outdoors surrounded by nature can reenergize you and help you to focus more.
Name three people that you would like to meet? Gabby Bernstein, Melissa Ambrosini, Elizabeth Gilbert.
