MINDFUL PRACTICES TO BOOST ENERGY

I’m tired, I have no energy, I’m not sleeping well, are common       complaints from mothers and the 48+ female demographic.

As strange as it sounds, keeping energy levels high is a priority to combat lethargy. Regular exercise for body and brain definitely improve the quality of sleep. Our bodies are designed to move and moving keeps the energy flowing.

“Where energy flows, life flows.”

The bodies lymphatic system transports lymph, a fluid containing infection-fighting white blood cells, throughout the body. Unlike the heart or the lungs the lymphatic system doesn’t have a pump and its movement that keeps the lymph flowing around the body. Body brushing is really good for this too.

Mindful exercise, or informal mindfulness, is complimentary to seated formal mindfulness. We all know when our energy is high we feel great, invincible, unstoppable, happy. When energy is low we feel dull, tired, crappy and don’t cope as well with small setbacks or irritations.

Keeping the energy high is important and here are a few easy, mindful, ways to do that.

  • Walking

  • Laughing Yoga

 

 

We breathe all the time, it’s an involuntary function and the breath is very versatile. We can use it to slow down and relax, to energise, to focus and to ground ourselves in our body. Our breathe is our anchor and Pranayama or breathing exercises help us to really maximise our breathing.

“No breath, no life”

Meditation is great for boosting energy, we spend too much time in our minds, overthinking even the simplest of things. Making the time to let the constant thoughts settle gives us the energy and clarity to see the forest not just the trees.

Meditation is eGuided Meditation Classesxercising the mind muscle, starting a meditation practice is like training for a marathon. At first it seems like you will never get there, but with time and practice, you start making progress and the benefits to body and mind will be obvious to yourself and to others.

Listen to your body and make the time to move every day, combine this with some time to meditate in whatever style suits you and you will feel better and sleep better.

When you sleep better and feel better you will have more energy and when you have more energy life is fun.
