MINDFULNESS and YOUR BODY

We might rush out the door without our keys, wallet, lunch or the to do list but it’s impossible to leave your body behind. Your  body is always with you so pay it the respect it deserves and use it for your informal mindfulness practice. Feeling into and being present in our own body is the best way to ground and focus when we feel stressed or overwhelmed. It’s the easiest and simplest thing to do, its portable and no one has to know you are doing it. It takes about 3-4 mins but you can make it as long … Continue reading

IT STARTED WITH A WHIFF…

I had used Essential Oils before and I went to an Intro to Oils class with Katische, www.katische.com and Chantal, www.chantalroelofs.com . I wanted to catch up with a friend and I was a little bit curious about these doTerra Oils I had been hearing about and seeing around. I went with me the very firm intention of “I’m not going to buy anything.” We started with a drop of Wild Orange oil in my hands, I rubbed them together inhaled and I was hooked, by the time we got to Frankincense any intentions I had were completely gone! All the … Continue reading

MINDFUL PRACTICES TO BOOST ENERGY

I’m tired, I have no energy, I’m not sleeping well, are common       complaints from mothers and the 48+ female demographic. As strange as it sounds, keeping energy levels high is a priority to combat lethargy. Regular exercise for body and brain definitely improve the quality of sleep. Our bodies are designed to move and moving keeps the energy flowing. “Where energy flows, life flows.” The bodies lymphatic system transports lymph, a fluid containing infection-fighting white blood cells, throughout the body. Unlike the heart or the lungs the lymphatic system doesn’t have a pump and its movement that keeps the … Continue reading

Restorative Yoga and Mindfulness for body and mind.

Definition of restorative adjective – having the ability to restore health, strength, or well-being.  noun – a thing that restores health, strength, or well-being, especially a medicine or drink. Life is a degenerative condition, we wear out in body and mind and that’s just the way it is. In the Western world hips, knees, the back neck and shoulders seem to be the most common problems that aging bodies face. These problems don’t happen overnight, it’s an accumulation of bad posture and neglect and then one day some simple movement is the straw that breaks the camel’s back! Then once the damage … Continue reading

MEDITATION FAQs and ANSWERS

MY mind is too busy to Meditate. Yes and??? We all have busy minds, that’s an excuse not a reason. The object of Meditation is to observe the thoughts, watch them like clouds moving across the sky, we aren’t trying to stop the thoughts. Picture a snow globe, give it a good shake and see the glitter floating around. This image is a good scenario for a busy mind. Over time just like the glitter the thoughts in your mind will slow down and settle. I don’t have time to meditate. Make time. Get up 15 mins earlier, forgo that … Continue reading
