FREEDOM, MINDFULNESS and ALLOWING

What does freedom mean to you? How would you like to be free? I’d like financial freedom, to be mortgage free and not being tied to a bank would be wonderful. While I’m waiting for that to happen I’m happy to be me and be free in this moment, now. Mindfulness and allowing brings enormous personal freedom. Allowing thoughts to come and go, allowing the good and the bad, allowing happiness and sadness, allowing laughter and tears, just allowing. Overthinking all these things trying, in our mind, to control situations and then burying emotions creates our own restraints.  Thoughts, feelings and … Continue reading

Get Yourself Connected

Connect [kuh–nekt]  verb – to join, link, or fasten together; unite or bind. Connection is part of human nature, we are social creatures and that’s why we form groups and live in communities.Being part of a group or community gives us a feeling of support and acceptance and gives us a feeling of belonging. Society has changed enormously and communities have suffered. Gone are the days when neighbours had a regular chat over the fence and shared home grown fruit and veg. It’s not uncommon to have neighbours that you can’t remember their name or you might have never even met them. Ironically living in a high density complex … Continue reading

Dreaming of a good night’s sleep.

I go to bed physically tired and mentally exhausted but once my head hits the pillow my mind goes into overdrive. This happens at 3 am too and while I refuse to look at a clock, I know if I don’t get back to sleep quickly the alarm will be buzzing. Stress, anxiety, poor health and overstimulation are just a few of the reasons we sleep badly. Keeping a diary or notes in your phone for 10 days or more will help to identify whats disripting or helping your nightly slumber. We all have busy minds with 101 thoughts … Continue reading

MY BEST OILS FOR WINTER ILLS

What is winter in Queensland? In lots of ways winter is very challenging for us. We have a few cold snaps, cold days and nights but overall our nights can be cold but the days are glorious. Clear blue skies with just a wisp of cloud and little to no wind. Saying that we can have a huge range of temperature from a low 3 deg at night to 24 plus in the day. So in comparison to say Melbourne, Queensland winter is pretty mild. Regardless of the temperatures we still suffer from seasonal threats, coughs, colds, bronchitis and the … Continue reading

MINDFULNESS and YOUR BODY

We might rush out the door without our keys, wallet, lunch or the to do list but it’s impossible to leave your body behind. Your  body is always with you so pay it the respect it deserves and use it for your informal mindfulness practice. Feeling into and being present in our own body is the best way to ground and focus when we feel stressed or overwhelmed. It’s the easiest and simplest thing to do, its portable and no one has to know you are doing it. It takes about 3-4 mins but you can make it as long … Continue reading
