There are two ways to approach life, in a panic or as it is now.

Last week was to be my busiest week for ages and I was looking forward to the fun agenda I had planned. It wasn’t to be as I caught a nasty cold and I canceled everything. Keep it simple

Why do we wait until it’s too late to rest and restore our mental, physical and emotional bodies? The signs are often there but we ignore them until it’s too late and the stress builds up so much that we mentally, emotionally and physically break down. Computers “sleep” when they aren’t being used and we take care of our devices; phone, tablet, laptop when they are running low and need recharging. Always speak kindly to yourself, it’s nice.

There are nights that I wake up and have trouble getting back to sleep. It’s my racing mind, thought after thought, that is keeping me awake. These thoughts are always of doom and gloom, worry and fear and always irrational. I simply say to my thoughts “not now” or “now’s not a good time” it’s very effective and I go back to sleep. However, I make sure I say this kindly and gently. Take refuge in your body and breath.

  When I need to find the space between the action and the reaction I take refuge in my body and breath. Grounding, centering, refocus, regroup all mean the same thing – take a moment between the action and the reaction. I like to use the term refuge. Why do I like it? Refuge is such a nice word; it implies safety and we all love to feel safe and secure. I take refuge in my breath and my body because it’s with me all the time. Stop multitasling and achieve more.

When I ask women what their challenges are the common response is “not enough time” and “I can’t focus.” I relate to this; I’m a good procrastinator and the champion of “this will only take a minute.” The trouble is consecutive minutes add up and my window of time is gone. Having a mindfulness practice helps with this.
